Cost-competitive Eggshell Dryer

With a Sanovo Eggshell Drum Dryer (ESD-D), the shell waste from the egg breaking activity is effectively treated and sterilised. The shells are exposed to a high temperature, which reduces the bacterial count significantly. Depending on local authorities, the shells can be used as fertiliser or ingredients in animal feed. The capacity of the system ranges from 500-4000 kg shells per hour and the system is very cost-competitive.

Efficient Drying

In order to achieve a complete drying and to meet the increasingly stringent demands for reduced air pollution, the load on the drying compartment is low. Thanks to the design of the drying compartment, with an effective use of the radiant heat, and the dimensioning of the rotating kiln, the energy is exploited in the best possible way. Local authorities have approved the plant according to the EU-legislation 1774/2002 regarding treatment of animal by-products, although others may require additional treatment.

The Elements

The elements of a turnkey drying plant is a rotating kiln, in some cases a hammer mill for grinding of the shells, a buffer tank for storage of the dried shells and a cyclone for dust removal.

The Process

The shells are transported from the process to the drying plant with an auger system. During the drying process, the shells are continuously moved through the kiln due to the inclination and the material guide baffles in the rotating kiln. The dried shells are transported to a tank with an auger system. Simple operational monitoring systems ensure that the mechanical handling is resulting in an optimal drying capacity and a trouble-free operation.
